Non-Strategy Books

Here is where I give a review of each poker book I've read. I rated each book on a scale of 1 to 5, and I list them from best to worst.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the poker books out there today, but it's a good start. You'd be surprised how many poker players out there call themselves experts, but yet they've never read a poker strategy book in their life. I consider this a major weakness.

If you ever want to truly become an expert, you've got to at least be aware of all the "text book" plays and tactics. And for a beginning player, poker books are even more important. Although reading books alone will not make you a winning player, they sure will give you a head start. They will give you a basis of the knowledge you need and help reduce the learning period, so that you don't have to learn from your own costly mistakes.

You will notice that in my Step-by-Step plan I recommend not only reading one of these books but going through it section by section and studying it like it really was a text book. Only through practice at a real table can you truly master the advice you read in the book.
