| PreFlop Simulator
|
This free Excel spreadsheet is used to learn and practice correct preflop decisions for limit Hold’em. Mistakes made before the flop are the number one problem area for most beginning players. Correct preflop play (by itself) will not guarantee a winning strategy, but without it, no one will become a winning player.
This program is a great learning tool for the beginning player. It allows you to learn by repetition and instant feedback, instead of having to memorize everything from a book or chart.
For the more experienced players, this program is useful as a refresher tool. I still use the simulator every so often to “re-align my tires”, so to speak, and make sure I don’t start drifting too far away from text book play.
Download PreFlop.xls
Save the Excel file to your hard drive. (You may have to unzip the file.) You must have MS Excel installed on your computer to run the simulator. To run the program, just open the file, PreFlop.xls, like you would any other Excel spreadsheet.
NOTE: If you have trouble getting the buttons to work, you probably need to lower the security setting within Excel to allow the use of macros. Do this by going to the "Tools" menu, "Options", and select the "Security" tab. Click on the "Macro Security" button and select "Medium" and hit "OK". Now close Excel and reopen the PreFlop.xls spreadsheet and choose "Enable Macros" when it opens. Everything should work fine now.
