Club kick-ups are not a trick by itself so to speak, but they are a great looking way to start a run. They're great for recovering after a drop. And sometimes they're used to add another club to an existing pattern.

Instructions:

Some people are just naturals when it comes to kick-ups. Others may try for years, and still not get the hang of it. They are not that easy to learn, but the good thing about it is that you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice it (each time you drop a club).

Another thing that's important about getting good kick-ups is the right footwear. You'll need to be able to point your toe up, so you'll need a good, flexible pair of tennis shoes (some people prefer barefoot). Start by placing the club over your foot as shown in the picture.

Now, point your toe up as much as you can. Then you're going to do a quick kick to the side with your foot. As you're doing that, you will need to bring your knee in, towards the other direction (from your foot).

The trick is to get the knob of the club handle to get leveraged on your shin. That is the reason you need to keep your toe pointed up as much as possible. Since the knob is held in place on your shin, your toe will fling the body of the club around and up.

This trick definitely takes a lot of practice. Don't get discouraged. Just keep trying and eventually you'll find your little sweet spot to getting perfect kick-ups.
