A.K.A. - Reverse Shoulder Throw

This trick consists of making a throw from the front of your body, up and over a shoulder, and catching the ball blind behind your back. It is an awkward looking and feeling move, but it can look quite cool when integrated into other tricks.

Instructions:

First, practice the throw and catch with one ball. I find it easier to throw and catch this from the same hand (siteswap throw of 4). Just throw it with your right hand straight up and over your right shoulder. To catch it, move your right shoulder forward a bit, and reach your right hand underneath it. You can cheat a bit by making the throw more to the outside and making a sort of penguin catch. (The penguin catch is not a blind catch like the over-the-shoulder.)

Now practice making the throw across your body with the other hand (left hand throw, right hand catch). This trick takes practice, but you will eventually get to where you can feel where your hand needs to be for the blind catch. It helps to watch the ball as long as you can, just until it goes out of sight, over your shoulder.

Variations:

As seen in my video clip, you can combine the cross-arm version and the same-arm version to get a nice looking run. The siteswap for this is: 333342
