A.K.A. - Chase
This pattern is called Snake because the three balls follow each other like a snake chasing its tail. This pattern is a good exercise for building up to the 5-ball cascade.
Instructions:
Start with all three balls in your right hand. Throw them one at a time up and towards your left hand. Make these throws a bit higher than your regular cascade throws. If done right, the first ball should be landing in your left hand just after you release the third ball from your right. Now pass them all back from you left to your right hand.
The final pattern will have you throwing three right-hand throws, followed by three left-hand throws, three right, three left, etc. You may have to speed up your throws to get them all in before they land in the other hand.
