Clubs are the preferred juggling prop for most performers, because they are more visible and appealing to the audience. They are used by most hobbiest because they are perfect for passing. If you've never juggled clubs before, don't hesitate to try it. It will open a whole new world of juggling to you.

Instructions:

Clubs are a bit harder to learn than balls. But, if you've got three balls down solid, it will only take a little extra practice. For me, it took a few weeks before I could juggle clubs solidly. Basically the only difference is that you have learn to deal with one extra variable, the spin.

First, you'll need a set of clubs. If you don't have access to any, you'll have buy some. Check out the Juggling Equipment section of my links page. I recommend paying a little extra to get a nice set of clubs with "spring-board" cushion handles. These will be a lot softer on on your hand than the hard, solid plastic ones.

Now, you need to practice the spin. Take one club, and throw it up, with a little flip of the wrist, to the other hand. The club should naturally spin once, then you can catch it in the other hand. Make sure to practice both hands.

Now, you need to practice the spin while you're juggling. The best way to do this is to start with two balls and one club.

You're now ready for all three clubs. One of the hardest parts is making the first throw, because you have to start with two clubs in one hand. Hold the clubs like this. Then throw the outside club with a little flick. This may take some practice to get a nice flip out of it.

From here, you'll just need to keep practicing until you get it. Make sure to throw the club at an angle (instead of straight out from your body). The angled throw will make the catch easier since the knob of the handle won't hit your wrist.
