My "luckydog" screen name came from what happened to my wife and I while on vacation this summer.

Picture two people in their early 50's who have never played poker before of any kind, on vacation in the Prescott AZ area. They decide to go to the Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde for some Blackjack. Turns out the casino has a poker room and being 4th of July weekend they have a limit holdem tournament. Not a lot to buy in so what the heck they sign up. Since they have only seen it on tv and never played in person they decide to play a live game before the tournament. Doesn't take long for each to get cleaned out of $100 in a 3/6 game. Now on to the tournament. Seven tables so 70 players and the couple start at diferent tables. Time goes buy and next thing you know the poker room manager announces that it is time to get down to the final table. I'm really surprised to hear this since I'm still playing. I'm even more surprised when one of the other players is my wife. This is great because they pay from 9th up with 9th getting $250 and now one of us is sure to be in the money. More playing and suddenly we are the only two people left at the table. The dealer offers us the chance to split the pot but the crowd doesn't like that idea. We play a few more hands and in the end I'm first with the wife second.
